👏Congratulations to both Tim Whiten (b.1941) and Chris Cran (b.1949), who both have been appointed to the Order of Canada. 🏅Considered the country’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Canada recognizes those who have made extraordinary contributions to the nation. The Art Canada Institute is the proud publisher of “Tim Whiten: Life & Work” by Carolyn Bell Farrell. Immigrating to Canada in 1968, Whiten was a founding member of York University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, where he taught for close to forty years. His celebrated works engage with ritual, myth, and alchemy to explore the depths of the human experience, inviting audiences to reflect on processes of transformation and change. The Calgary-based Cran has a talent for visual tricks and satire. He taught at the Alberta College of Art and Design (now the Alberta University of the Arts), speaking to the power of play and the magic of the studio to his students. His works, which can be found exhibited across Canada and internationally, infuse humour with an experimentation of art styles and genres. A huge shout out to these magnificent artists and their careers. 1/ Tim Whiten in front of "Halleljuah II."
