KENGO KUMA & ASSOCIATES has designed a a chain-clad staircase that serves as the circulation core of a new 2,000 sq.m. immersive exhibition inside Casa Batlló, Gaudí Barcelona, one of the masterpieces of Gaudí, in Barcelona. Kuma used 164,000 meters of Kriskadecor’s aluminum chain to create this splendid metal curtain. The staircase connects 8 floors and the coal bunkers in the basement. Kriskadecor created acoustic panels on the ceiling above the chains to counteract the noise of the metal mesh. More information, a great video, and pictures by Jordi Anguera in comments. I know I often talk about sustainability, but I will make an exception for this project. This is the type of project that I would love to experience in person, as I am convinced it is more impressive on-site than in the video or by the pictures. Such an intriguing, innovative project, itself in a masterpiece! #realestate #architecture #design #history #gaudi #barcelona #spain #immobilier
