Ever had your diesel engine refuse to start on a cold winter morning? Here's something many drivers don't realize: diesel fuel can begin to gel at temperatures around 32°F (0°C), with full gelling often happening between 10-15°F (-12°C to -9°C). The wax in the fuel starts to crystallize, which can clog your fuel filter and lines before you even notice a problem. So what can you actually do about it? A few practical steps go a long way. Switch to winter grade diesel in colder months, add a quality anti-gel additive before temperatures drop, and keep an eye on your fuel filter and water separator. If your fuel has already gelled, warming the vehicle, replacing the filter, and using an emergency anti-gel treatment can help get you moving again. But there's more to understand about the difference between #1 and #2 diesel, how anti-gel additives actually work on a chemical level, and why your DEF system needs protection too. We covered all of it in detail here: https://lnkd.in/g8mt_ndg Have a question about winter diesel performance?
