This journey has been anything but a sprint โ€” more like a long, rewarding (half) marathon that took almost 25 years, filled with learning, growth, and inspiring encounters ๐Ÿƒโ€โžก๏ธ ย  Along this path Iโ€™ve met so many brilliant, kind-hearted people (๐Ÿ‘‡can hardly name them all) who have supported, inspired, and motivated me โ€” also in difficult times โ€” I am deeply indebted to them๐Ÿ™ The journey started with physics studies at the universities in Braunschweig and Heidelberg followed by my PhD in theoretical physics at Humboldt University Berlin under Prof. Alejandro Saenz โ€” where curiosity turned into passion for accuracy. My first steps into medical physics led me to Aarhus University, where we founded the Aarhus Particle Therapy Group led by Prof. Niels Bassler โ€” a place where collaboration truly meant innovation.ย  Later came OncoRay, Dresden: contributing to clinical and preclinical proton therapy research within the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) under Profs. Michael Baumann and Mechthild Krause, and continuing at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) with Profs. Wolfgang Enghardt and Aswin Hoffmann โ€” experiences that shaped both my scientific direction and my perspective on teamwork and leadership.ย  At TU Dortmund University, I had the chance to build something of my own โ€” an independent research group in medical physics as Junior Professor โ€” surrounded by dedicated colleagues who embraced every new challenge ๐Ÿ’ช Now the second half of the marathon lies ahead. I look forward to shaping the next chapter together with colleagues, students, collaborators, and friends โ€” building bridges between physics and medicine to make an impact that lasts ๐Ÿš€ ๐Ÿซต Hope to see you all one day in Dortmund ๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿ‘‡ Some of the remarkable people Iโ€™ve had the privilege to work with:ย  Jan-Oliver Kliemann, Sascha Zรถllner, Timm Krรผger, Brita Singers Sรธrensen, Niels Bassler, Anne Vestergaard, Clรคre von Neubeck, Stephan Helmbrecht, ๐—รถ๐—ฟ๐—ด ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ธ๐—ฒ, Elke Beyreuther, ๐—”๐—ป๐˜๐—ท๐—ฒ ๐——๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ต, Theresa Suckert, Johannes Soltwedel, Benjamin Lutz, Jan Eulitz, ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—Ÿรถ๐—ฐ๐—ธ, Mechthild Krause, Christian Richter, Wolfgang Enghardt, Aswin Hoffmann, Prof. Dr. Sonja Schellhammer, Sindi Nexhipi, Benjamin G., Esther Troost, Jens Weingarten, ๐—ž๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ž๐—ฟรถ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ฟ, Christian Hahn, Lena Heuchel, Liheng Tian, Abdelkhalek, Robin Hegering, Matthias F.
