A Univision host sparked controversy on social media by declaring that she would not watch the 2026 World Cup in Mexico because the country could not guarantee her safety. The reaction was immediate and furious. But beyond the outrage, the question we should ask ourselves is: why does a Latina, who should be better informed about Mexican reality, hold that perception? The answer is not her fault, but rather a strategic failure on Mexico's part as a country. Over the last eight years, we have done a terrible job communicating that Mexico is not only a perfect tourist destination, but a place where things will go well —and not just well, but perfectly. Mexico has been ranked as the country with the best service in tourist destinations. Figures show that the number of tourists who have experienced an incident in Mexico is minimal. But this is not being communicated. This article argues that Mexico needs an advertising and propaganda campaign that demonstrates, with numbers and facts, that tourists are completely safe. #TouristSafety #SafeMexico #MexicoCommunication #Perception #MexicoTourism #WorldCup2026 #MexicoBrand #InternationalMedia #Tourism
