Too many organisations still talk about resilience as if stability were about to return. In luxury and retail, uncertainty is increasingly the norm rather than the exception. That changes the role of operations. Resilience is no longer only about limiting downside. It is about protecting what makes the business competitive when conditions shift fast: service levels, product availability, exclusivity, continuity, cash discipline and margin. The most effective response is not simply to add more buffers. It is to build a better-connected operating model, with clearer choices on footprint, supplier optionality, inventory positioning and decision-making. Resilience is not something to add after the fact.
