In Rio de Janeiro, the Jacarepaguá Coastal Lagoon Complex faced years of pollution and ecosystem decline. Arcadis helped transform it into a model for urban resilience. By removing 2.3 million cubic meters of sediment to create new habitat for 350,000 mangroves, we restored a critical coastal habitat that now protects shorelines, enhances biodiversity, and improves the lives of approximately one million people. By harmonizing the built and natural environment, we’re proving that nature-based solutions are essential for a sustainable, resilient future. #COP30
