For years, Arc’teryx has toured its films through cinemas. Last month in Paris, we tried something different. Arc’teryx Presents brought two new films — Emprises and Nouveau Regard — into a gallery space across four days. The films were one part of the program. Alongside them: kinetic sculptures inspired by the boulders of Fontainebleau, doubling as climbing holds the audience was invited to touch and climb. A live dance performance accompanied by a harpist. A talk between a climber-dancer, a dancer and the artist on the shared grammar of gesture across the three disciplines. A workshop led by climber and artist Ivan Le Pays. More than 1,800 people came through. Félix-Antoine Arseneau, Senior Manager, Community Marketing - EMEA, produced Emprises with Ivan Le Pays, a project that started three years ago. “The level of detail in these event and film productions is hard to grasp. Everything is accounted for; nothing is left to chance.” “If you’d told a younger me that these kinds of projects would become part of my day-to-day, I’d have been skeptical. And quite thrilled.” Both films will continue to screen throughout the year, beginning with the Arc’teryx Alpine Academy in July. Photo credit: Yulen Calleja ordiz
