No Hate Speech Week is a reminder of the urgent need to tackle hate speech across the EU.   However, our recent Transparency Report shows that social media platforms are getting it wrong much of the time.   Many civil society organisations have sent us large numbers of cases about potentially harmful content left up on social media platforms. One example is Media Diversity Institute Global, who work to encourage accurate and nuanced reporting on race, religion, ethnicity, class, age, disability, gender and sexual identity issues in the media.   In 67% of MDI Global disputes where we reviewed the content, we overturned the social media platform’s decision.
