Finland’s first cathode active materials (CAM) plant has secured EUR514.4 million of financing, marking a significant step forward for Europe’s battery supply chain. The financing will support a landmark facility that, once operational, is expected to produce 60,000 tons of cathode active material each year — enough for approximately 750,000 electric vehicles. “This financing underscores Europe's commitment to building a resilient, homegrown battery supply chain,” said partner, Lorraine Bayliss. “We are proud to have supported this milestone transaction, which will play a meaningful role in strengthening European energy independence.” The project is being developed by Easpring Finland New Materials Oy, a joint venture between Beijing Easpring and Finnish Minerals Group with a minority stake by LG Energy Solution. The team, led by partner Lorraine Bayliss and counsel Megan Chen-Schlote, with support from senior associate Chinedu Ihenetu-Geoffrey and the wider AOS team, advised the lenders and ECAs.
