Senegal - The Mediature of the Republic receives "complaints concerning the functioning of State administrations, local authorities, public establishments and any other body with a public service mission" (Article 1 of Act 99-04 of 29 January 1999. In addition, according to Article 2 of the same Act, he has a "general mission of contributing to the institutional and economic environment of the institution, especially in its relations with public administrations or bodies with a public service mission". Among other things, it also has a task of calming the social climate and also a role in promoting human rights. In this respect, the United Nations considers it as an instrument for the protection of human rights. It is in this respect that the Mediator #Ombudsmann) of this Republic is a partner of many human rights promotion institutions (member of the Senegalese Human Rights Committee). The current Mediator of the Republic #Ombudsmann) is Adv. Alioune Badara CISSE who succeeded the Professor Serigne DIOP in August 2015.
