SAP BRIM | Convergent Charging & Invoicing | Subscription Billing | FI-CA | SOM | O2C | Open to SAP BRIM Roles - Bangalore

I posted about my SAP BRIM learning journey last week. I didn't expect what happened next. Senior BRIM consultants, CI specialists, FI-CA experts, and a Convergent Mediation developer started reaching out and sharing their real project experiences with me. Here are 4 things I learned that no course or book ever told me: 1️⃣ Not all BRIM projects use Convergent Charging. I assumed CC was always part of the picture. A senior CI consultant told me that in many projects, CC isn't implemented at all. Instead, Recurring BITs are generated directly through Billing Plans in CI. The data flow I studied isn't always the data flow on the ground. 2️⃣ Convergent Mediation does more than I thought. I learned CM as "the component that collects usage data from networks and sends it to CI." A CM developer corrected me. CM also handles data flows between CC and SOM. Its scope is broader than most training material suggests. 3️⃣ FI-CA production support is mostly Change Requests and Incidents, not firefighting. I assumed production support meant constant crisis management. A FI-CA consultant told me the day-to-day is actually structured work. Change Requests, Incidents, Service Requests, with reconciliation key issues being the most common specific problem. 4️⃣ The interface document is what connects CC and CI. When a Chargeable Item Class in CC needs to map to a BIT/CIT class in CI, it happens through an Interface Document that's communicated between teams after the class is configured and generated. This cross-system coordination is invisible in textbooks but critical on real projects. 3 weeks of self-study taught me the theory. 3 days of conversations with practitioners taught me how it actually works. If you're learning SAP BRIM, don't just study. Talk to people who are doing it. The gap between training and reality is where the real learning happens. To the consultants who took the time to share their knowledge, thank you. This community is something special. 🙏 ...... I'm currently transitioning into SAP BRIM consulting, with hands-on training across all 4 modules and real-world subscription billing experience at Postman. If you're working on a BRIM project and looking for someone who combines domain expertise with technical knowledge, I'd love to connect. #SAPBRIM #SAP #ConvergentInvoicing #FICA #ConvergentMediation #SubscriptionBilling #CareerTransition #S4HANA #SAPConsultant #OpenToWork
