Super excited to share that our latest article has been published in The Lancet! The Lancet Group In this study, we report a new variant of Bundibugyo ebolavirus (BDBV) identified during the ongoing Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Using whole-genome sequencing and in-depth phylogenetic analyses, we provide insights into the virus's evolution and its relationship to previously identified BDBV lineages. I am especially proud to have contributed my expertise in computational biology and evolutionary genomics, leading the phylogenetic analyses and reconstructing the evolutionary relationships among the Ebola virus genomes. It's incredibly rewarding to see these methods contribute to understanding and responding to emerging infectious disease outbreaks. This work would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of an outstanding multidisciplinary team. Grateful to all our co-authors and collaborators for their contributions. #TheLancet #Ebola #BundibugyoEbolavirus #Genomics #Phylogenetics #ComputationalBiology #EvolutionaryBiology #GlobalHealth #InfectiousDiseases #PublicHealth Dalhousie University Africa CDC World Health Organization https://lnkd.in/gXAj5524
