Recently PhD Candidate and Luritja poet Matthew Heffernan collaborated with Dr Ben Swift to run LLMs Unplugged at the Tjabal Centre's Autumn School. This special version of LLMs Unplugged featured Matt's own poem Ngurrparringu (Forgotten) written in both Luritja and English versions. Students cut out and rearranged pieces of this poem the way a large language model would, resampling Ngurrparringu, a poem about language, ancestors, country, and forgetting. This workshop highlighted the importance of training data to determine the output language, and what this might mean for representation within large language models.
