At the end of my masters degree, I had the privilege of attending the IPP Summer University for Plasma Physics and Fusion Research at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Munich. The programme covered topics including Magneto-Hydro-Dynamics and Plasma Kinetics. We looked at Tokamak and Stellarator projects such as ITER (ITER Organization) and Wendelstein 7-X, as well as visiting the ASDEX Upgrade facility in Garching. I also had the opportunity to present my MSc dissertation at the institute which was a great chance to share work on nuclear waste immobilisation with people who did not all come from nuclear fields.
