Brazil’s 'Project Earthstone' is all set to transform mining byproducts into carbon storage materials through mineralization. Isometric (a leading carbon removal standards and registry organization), Anglo American (the largest producer of platinum in the world and a mining company), and ZeroEx (Germany-based Enhanced Weathering expert) have collaborated to kickstart with this sustainable mining initiative. Critical questions arise: - With its massive mining sector, silicate-rich by-products, and urgent climate obligations, could India follow suit? - Does India’s geology favor mineral carbonation? - Can mining laws, technology, and investment align to replicate Brazil’s carbon-smart model for climate resilience and resource efficiency?
