During COVID, like many of us, I reflected on how vital it is to get life-saving therapies to those who need them. Bringing vaccines and medicines to market isn’t just about finding the right molecule—it’s a combination of factors: formulation, delivery, materials, and so much more, almost like an orchestra that ultimately shapes the final product and its impact on patients. Around that time, I asked Shamit Shrivastava whether this technology he was building could be used to expedite a COVID vaccine. His response was a reminder of the challenges: “Maybe, if we’d built it two years ago.” That conversation was a turning point, an aha moment where we realized just how impactful this could be. What if scientists could iterate on every aspect of drug design with greater speed and precision? If we could make the engineering work, it had all the promise. After nearly 10 years of watching this research unfold, doing nothing felt impossible. So, we took a leap, leaving our jobs to build something we felt could genuinely change what’s possible in drug discovery. Coming from India, I was also driven by a desire to make this technology accessible. I’d seen how many companies focus on generics and biosimilars, limited by the high costs of developing new drugs. We wanted to build something that smaller companies could afford, empowering those often left out of innovation. After three years of dedicated work, Apoha reached a milestone I’m incredibly proud of. The Liquid Brain, our technology, quietly debuted at PEGS Europe organised by Cambridge Healthtech Institute last week, drawing excitement from hudreds of scientists eager to test it out. These are the early adopters who will help shape what’s next in drug discovery. The full reveal is coming in the new year. We’re just getting started, and I’m excited to share this journey with all of you. #Apoha #LiquidBrain #NewBeginnings
