I argued three cases before the Texas Supreme Court in the 2025-26 term. We won two, and lost one in a (heartbreaking) 5-4 decision (pending on rehearing!). We got the final opinion yesterday for the Ly family (profiled below in The Texas Lawbook). It has been 5 years since we were retained following a $20+ million jury verdict against them and their family business. The Dallas Court of Appeals unanimously reversed it (opinion by Justice Bill Pedersen), and the Texas Supreme Court unanimously affirmed that reversal (majority opinion by Justice Busby and concurring opinion by Chief Justice Blacklock). In addition to securing a complete win for our clients, we helped make some good law, clarifying what is required to support a fraud finding in Texas. What a privilege it was to work with an incredible team of colleagues, co-counsel, and clients in these three cases, including Kelli Bills, Stephani Michel, Megan Coker, Chris Knight, Nathaniel Buchheit, Mary O'Connor, Brian Gillett, Ben Mesches, Ryan Paulsen, Wallace B. Jefferson, and Bill Boyce. On to the 2026-27 term! https://lnkd.in/gdKDJWMb
