Pain is not experienced equally. And neither is care. “Hot off the press” - our paper, “Sociodemographic Patterns and Associations Between Perceived Healthcare Discrimination and Pain Severity in the All of Us Research Program,” is now published in the Journal of Pain. Key finding: Perceived healthcare discrimination is associated with greater pain severity. Using data from the All of Us Research Program, this work reinforces what many individuals already know from lived experience, inequities in care are real, and they shape health in profound ways. Grateful to collaborate with an incredible team: Yuzhou Liu, Grace Mooney, Olubukola Fabusiwa, Staja Q. Booker, Cao Xueyuan, Ericka N. Merriwether, Boshi R. Zhao, Michael Kushnick, Angela Starkweather, and Keesha Powell-Roach. Humbled by this work. Motivated to keep going.
