Head of Global Sales - CÓCOES LIMITED
Exactly a year ago, I sat on a plane, and my destination was Palawan, Philippines. To visit Lionheart Farms Philippines Corporation 🌴 At that time, a 20-year career in watches and jewelry had abruptly ended, and I was venturing into the unknown. After declaring at a Danish Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong event that I was available in the job market for the first time in 20 years, Anders Haagen asked me if I could sell coconut syrup. "Of course, let's talk," I replied - and soon after, I was introduced to Anders' partner and co-founder, Christian Eyde Moller. Small world: Although Anders and I have lived in Hong Kong for 17 years, this was our first encounter. Even more bizarre, we discovered that we all come from the same town in Denmark—4700 Næstved. Anders' father, a dentist, saved me from the evil school dentist, and I still carry a gold tooth made by his hand. And my dear friend and captain Peter Monsted is Christian's cousin. I believe the universe meant for us all to meet. What are the odds? Career Pivot: When I ventured to Palawan, I had already been working with several headhunters. Ironically, I had an offer to continue my career in fashion—I could choose to work with Coco (Chanel) or a Coconut Plantation. I followed my heart - I felt that the world didn't need another watch, piece of jewelry, or handbag from me - I would only marginally be able to impact the world by joining another fashion company. Rather, I set out to do something truly good that would potentially positively impact many people. Visiting Lionheart Farms was a humbling experience, and I saw immediately how I could use my 30 years of experience to make a difference. Fast forward - one year since the first encounter, and since then, I have: - attained a Harvard Diploma in sustainable nutrition. - been adopted into the Lionheart Family And we have: - built the brand scaffolding for CÓCOES LIMITED and THE POWER OF SLOW. - started educating consumers about healthier food habits. - enabled access to the products for customers and consumers to buy directly from the farm, putting the money where it is most needed. - showcased the products in China, Germany, Dubai, and Hong Kong to look for partners on the same mission: bringing sustainably farmed and real food to consumers worldwide. I just wanted to share my story to remind and inspire you that when one door closes, a new one will open if you are open-minded, roll up your sleeves, wake up with a can-do attitude, and are willing to listen and learn.
