PastureScapes presents a documentary on shepherdess life in the Himalayan high plateaus 🌿🐑 The #PastureScapes series is back! On Monday, 30 June, 18:30–20:30, we will be screening "The Shepherdess of the Glaciers" at the Kleine Aula, Nordcampus in Witzenhausen. Screened with the personal consent of the filmmaker Stanzin Dorjai Gya, the documentary takes us to a remote high-altitude pastoral system in the Himalayas. It follows Tesring, a young shepherdess managing her herd alone under extreme social-ecological conditions 🎬. The film offers a close look at herd management shaped by rugged terrain, forage scarcity, and predator threats; and invites us to appreciate the vast knowledge, hard work, and adaptive decisions required to sustain life on marginal Himalayan rangelands. After the screening, there will be an interactive discussion. Beverages will be provided; please bring your own cup 🍶 . Online participation is also possible via Zoom: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e3tfUeCt Code: 304106 All are welcome — students, staff, and guests from outside the university alike! The #PastureScapes series is supported by the German Institute for Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture (DITSL), #CELEP, and Vétérinaires Sans Frontières - Dierenartsen Zonder Grenzen Belgium🤝. 📅 Monday, 30 June | 18:30–20:30📍 Kleine Aula, Nordcampus, Witzenhausen #Pastoralism #Rangelands #IYRP2026 #WomenInPastoralism #LivestockSystems #Himalayas #UniversityOfKassel
