Money expert, journalist and content creator at Be Clever With Your Cash

Wow! Last night I picked up Financial Broadcast Journalist of the Year at the Headlinemoney awards for my videos on the Be Clever With Your Cash YouTube channel. I’ve been nominated a few times for this category in recent years, but never won, and I 100% expected the same again - that’s what happens when the rest of the shortlist also includes three excellent BBC journalists. So it was a total shock when host Maisie Adam announced me as a winner. I’m so proud of this achievement. For a bloke in his basement office with a camera and a mic to be chosen above amazing content for Radio 4’s Money Box, BBC1’s Morning Live and BBC News simply blows my mind, and it’s exciting for the platform to get the recognition from the judges as much as for the content I publish there. On a quick side note. I’ve always been, and continue to be, an advocate and fan of public service journalism (Be Clever With Your Cash is very much based on the Reithian principles of Inform, Educate, Entertain). The BBC can and does help millions with their finances everyday across TV, radio and online. I really hope the recent cuts don’t damage that too heavily. We’ll be much poorer (literally and figuratively) as a nation as a result if it does.
