National team managers should be from the same country as the nation they represent. If players must be eligible to represent a country, I believe the manager should be too. International football is built on identity, culture and national pride, and I think the manager should share that same connection to the country they represent. No country has ever won the men's World Cup with a foreign manager, and at the men's Euros, only Greece has won the tournament with a foreign coach. People often argue that some countries have no choice but to appoint a foreign manager because there isn't a suitable native coach. I disagree. Luis de la Fuente and Lionel Scaloni weren't appointed because they had the biggest managerial CVs. They were trusted to lead their countries, and their understanding of the national identity and football culture was just as important as their coaching ability.
