Thac Ba, Vietnam – Successful completion of all three units’ rehabilitation At 11:30 a.m. on January 20, 2026, following the successful completion of the 72-hour trial run of Unit 3, all three units (3 x 40 MW) of the Thac Ba hydropower plant were officially put back into commercial operation after rehabilitation. Being the first hydropower plant constructed in North Vietnam during 1960s, Thac Ba HPP has been operated for over 50 years. As part of this comprehensive rehabilitation project, all core components, including oil-free Kaplan runners, guide vanes, rotor poles and governors and so on, have been fully upgraded, breathing new life into the old generating units. This achievement marks a significant milestone for ANDRITZ, further strengthens the company's reference portfolio in rehabilitation of non-OEM Kaplan units with long operational histories. Meanwhile, it further consolidates ANDRITZ's leading position in the Vietnamese hydropower market as the preferred supplier of comprehensive "water-to-wire" technologies and rehabilitation & renovation services. #Hydropower #RenewableEnergy #Modernization #Vietnam #Andritz
