💼 One headquarters. Two divisions. Endless opportunities to grow. This week, I had the pleasure of attending the HSBC x Zero Gravity Insight Day at HSBC’s UK headquarters in Birmingham- a valuable experience exploring early careers within Commercial Banking and Wealth & Personal Banking. From the start, it was evident that HSBC operates with a strong set of values- getting it done, succeeding together, taking responsibility, and valuing difference. These themes were consistently reflected throughout the day, offering real insight into the organisation’s people-focused and purpose-driven culture. 🔹 In Commercial Banking, Kieran Jones and Ruth Taylor shared how HSBC supports SMEs, MMEs, and large corporates with a global mindset and tailored solutions. Their perspectives brought to life the importance of adaptability, client interaction, and strategic thinking in a fast-moving environment. 🔹 In Wealth & Personal Banking, Miriam H. highlighted HSBC’s strategic push to grow its UHNW client base in Asia and how digitisation and recent app enhancements are reshaping the customer experience and strengthening the firms position in an increasingly fintech-heavy market. The day also offered valuable career insight- from the importance of learning agility and collaboration to practical advice on staying commercially aware, building a network, and engaging beyond the classroom. We also heard about HSBC’s commitment to social mobility through Strive, an employee-led initiative. Speakers shared how their experiences- including ties to Zero Gravity- are shaping efforts to create a more inclusive future for the next generation. 💬 We closed the day with empowering guidance on how to stand out in the recruitment process: stay informed, build meaningful connections, and show initiative beyond academics.
