Many footy fans know the story of Billy James, who was plucked from his country footy club Kyabram to make his VFL debut for Richmond in the 1920 Grand Final. Billy kicked a goal, helping the Tigers to win their first premiership, but never played VFL footy again. Over time, the story of why he never played again became mythical. The story of Billy James is an almost Sherlock Holmes-level mystery, and it contains a real-life link to Arthur Conan Doyle!
