Dorset Biz News - always something different. Headlining today on www.dorsetbiznews.co.uk: 1. What an amazing human achievement. Former Royal Marine Dave ‘Dinger’ Bell is now less than 200 nautical miles from reaching his final destination on his epic – and unsupported – solo row across the Atlantic. He launched from Liberty Landing Marina in New York, USA, on May 31 at 1.55am local time. His destination - Falmouth in Cornwall. The distance is 3,200 nautical miles but due to hurricanes, the gulf stream and huge waves, Dinger has already rowed 3,800 nautical miles. Today, September 21, is his 114th day at sea. If the weather, and tides, work in his favour Dinger, who lives in Bere Regis, could reach Falmouth as early as this Saturday, September 25. He would have just one day’s food to spare if that turns out to be the case. 2. A leading provider of delivery solutions has created at least 20 new jobs with the opening of a depot in Verwood. DX says that, once fully staffed, the 14,000 sq ft depot on the Ebblake Industrial Estate will have 20 employees and up to 30 subcontractors working out of the site. The depot will serve the group’s DX Express division, which specialises in secure, next-day parcel delivery. Its opening will allow for the expansion of DX’s operations in the south west, increasing the group’s capacity in the region and driving service and productivity improvements. 3. Biz News update: Countdown begins to sustainability expo and awards; Sharon joins ourHRpeople as Director of Bournemouth; All Fired Up celebrates Poole’s ceramics heritage. PLUS Today’s featured article: Matt Peacock, MD, Star Tech, Poole, with timely advice on keeping your motoring costs down. All this, and more, on the site where people - and businesses - love to be seen.
