Comfort Food! Ah! Delivered right to my car window. Not your usual drive thru fare but delicious dishes hand made by my good friend, client and renown chef extraordinarie Jared Hucks who is now offering a comfort food special menu for carry out. A sit-down high-end restaurant The Alden in Chamblee offering “Carry out”??? Yes and He even carries it out himself to me and the local patrons of his restaurant. He’s committed to following the guidelines of the CDC- closed his dining room today and begins curbside service. Also offers gift certificates with a 20% bonus. Jared handed off to me at arms-length a brown paper bag lightly held aloft by fingertips wearing thin rubber chef’s gloves. We exchange knowing glances - we both know he suffers more than I. we chat openly of the shock and I acknowledge his good graces offering us his comforting food. We’re momentarily distracted from the sobering developments, bound together by camaraderie and brotherly encouragement that “this too shall pass.” Human suffering is inevitable yet the human spirit overcomes the pandemic thru compassion. Let us turn to three or four favorite restaurants and express our compassionate support for the men and women who have served us —-express our continued patronage. Eat with love.
