Digital #sovereignty is often framed as a trade‑off: control or innovation, resilience or scale. But that’s a false choice. In this Fortune article, I advocate for a different path: one where sovereignty is about optionality, not insularity or protectionism. True sovereignty means customers —not cloud providers— hold the keys and decide who can access their data, their systems and, ultimately, their future without sacrificing access to cutting-edge innovation. This is not theoretical. Across industries and regions, organizations are already putting it into practice: BNP Paribas with flexible hybrid architectures that meet local regulatory needs; Riyadh Air | طيران الرياض with AI‑ready platforms designed to scale without slowing innovation; and Telkom Indonesia with open, interoperable sovereign platforms aligned to local data requirements. By designing for openness, hybrid cloud and governed AI from the start, organizations can stay always‑on, competitive and secure, even in times of geopolitical uncertainty. As cyber risks, AI adoption and global complexities accelerate, sovereignty is no longer about walls —it’s about smart, resilient design. A timely read for leaders shaping what comes next. https://lnkd.in/eaHRe6ZD
