The Indian Ambassador H E Shri Ajit Gupte hosted the presentation of the Study on "Enhancing Indo-German SME Technology Cooperation ", prepared by the Fraunhofer Office India and DWIH, Delhi. The comprehensive Paper outlines the characteristics, structure, of SMEs in both countries, the existing initiatives, the barriers as well as opportunities for leveraging complimentary strengths. Dr #MichaelHarms Deputy Secretary General of DAAD, and Dr Stephan Guttowski, Managing Director Fraunhofer Microsystems Allianz spoke on the fact that SMEs are drivers of innovation, growth and employment. The recommendations drive home the point forcefully that analysis has to lead to concrete initiatives that will enable and foster accelerated partnership between SMEs in both countries. An intensive discussion by representatives from Academia, Industry, Industry associations and government followed the presentation of the key findings by Dr Katja Lasch and Anandi Iyer, and participants underscored the imminent need to create sustained platforms of information exchange, cultural immersion, partnering, sharing of info on IPR and legal issues as well as curating partnerships based on strategic sectors of focus.
