Just one month into my role as President of ABB’s Traction division, I’ve had the privilege of diving into the technologies that are shaping the future of sustainable transport. Rail is already one of the most energy-efficient modes of travel – and with the right solutions, it can go even further. At ABB, we support our customers across the full lifecycle: from new vehicles to modernizing existing fleets for improved efficiency, avoided emissions, and extended asset life. A great example is our work with Müller Technologie in Switzerland, where 30-year-old diesel locomotives were upgraded for hybrid and overhead line operations – extending their lifetime by another 25 years and cutting fuel consumption by up to 85%.
