Mechanical apprentice at Scania West Africa
In the fourth phase of our training with Scania West Africa, we gained valuable insights into the starter motor’s operation. We learned how the starter motor’s pinion gear engages and slides into the flywheel to start the engine’s combustion process. The pull-in and hold-in coils activate the solenoid to push the pinion gear in and out, while the over-running clutch allows the gear to spin freely once the engine takes over. When the ignition key is released, power to the solenoid is cut, and the spring retracts the pinion gear from the flywheel. This detailed understanding of the starter motor’s components and functions is essential for mastering engine start-up mechanics. Proud to advance my skills with Scania West Africa’s expert training. #ScaniaWestAfrica #ScaniaGlobal #WATA
