Benjamin Schafer, PhD, of The Johns Hopkins University, was recently recognized by the Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) for his critical efforts advancing hot- and cold-formed steel standards! Schafer, a 2026 AISC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, received the John P. Matsen Award for Distinguished Service for his work on a task group charged with integrating cold-formed steel and hot-rolled steel into a single standard for a future edition of the AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings (ANSI/AISC 360).
