Shhh, don't tell! Silence: it's addiction's one rule. Keep the secret. Hide the struggle. Pretend everything is okay. That's because addiction thrives in silence and lies. Recovery is different. Recovery begins when the secrecy stops, and it grows through truth and the courage to ask for help. It's the Fourth of July, and we know that while we're celebrating our nation's birthday and all of the freedoms that come with it, for someone living with addiction, freedom might begin with simply saying, "I need help." If you or someone you love is struggling, you don't have to carry it alone. Asking for help could be the first step toward the freedom you've been looking for. 💙
