Incoming MA History Student at Durham University
I am very proud to share that I have graduated from Durham University with a high 2:1 (68%) in History (BA Hons). Looking back over the past three years, I am deeply grateful for the intellectual challenges and opportunities for growth that have defined my undergraduate journey. Highlights include achieving a First-Class result in my Special Subject (18th-20th century Eastern Europe), and researching and writing my dissertation: ‘Propaganda and the Theft of the Roman Past: Chronopolitical Myth-Making, Spatial Ties, Anglophone Observation, and the Practical Use of the Ancient Past in Mussolini’s Italy’. Completing this degree has taught me an enormous amount about academic stamina. During my second year, I had to navigate an unexpected and significant disruption to my studies which required consistent hard work, determination and perseverance to be able to compensate. Overcoming that challenge to regain momentum and finish on such a high note has truly reinforced my resilience and dedication to my work. Beyond my studies, Durham has given me so much more than a degree. I have made lifelong friendships, created countless memories, and my time has been enriched through my involvement in various student committees. I am incredibly grateful to my academic advisors, professors and student support for their guidance throughout my degree. Additionally, the encouragement from my family and friends has been invaluable. Finally, I am excited that this isn’t yet the end of my academic journey, or my time in Durham. This September, I will be returning to begin an MA in History. I am looking forward to continuing with my studies and exploring professional pathways that extend beyond my time at university.
