If you have ever been diving, you’ve likely noticed that the color red disappears just a few meters below the surface. It is one of the rare moments in nature where we can actually see light filtering in action. Water acts as a natural, cumulative filter, selectively absorbing longer, lower-energy wavelengths—like infrared heat and visible red light—first. The deeper you go, the cooler and more tranquil the environment becomes. While an electrochemical reaction is entirely abstract and invisible to the naked eye, this underwater phenomenon is the perfect visual metaphor for the experience Ambilight’s Electrochromic (EC) technology delivers. We don't replicate the ocean's complex physics of scattering and reflection. Instead, we use smart chemistry to achieve a similar environmental transformation. Through a precise, low-voltage electrical charge, our solid-state film—measuring less than 0.5mm thick—dynamically alters its optical properties. This reaction allows the thin film to selectively filter intense visible light and actively block solar heat on demand. It provides the same sensation as descending into the deep blue: instantly transforming a harsh, sun-glaring space into an effortlessly cool, perfectly composed vehicle cabin. #Ambilight #Electrochromic #SmartDimming #AutomotiveTech
