Stan Boland built and sold three UK deep tech companies to Broadcom, NVIDIA, and Bosch. That's not a bad record. We sat down with Stan to look back at his story, a career spanning Acorn, Arm, Element 14, Icera, FiveAI, and Deeptech Labs. It's a story about chips, autonomous vehicles, company building, and a habit of choosing the hardest problem to solve. Element 14, backed by Amadeus, sold to Broadcom just 18 months after spinout. Icera sold to NVIDIA. FiveAI, built to tackle self-driving in London’s difficult streets, was later acquired by Bosch. Stan has brought in over $1 billion with these exits, but he doesn't dwell on it.
