"Disagreeing without war, that's the whole point." — Congressman Dan Crenshaw When was the last time you had a thoughtful conversation with someone who saw the world differently than you did—and really listened? Just in time for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we filmed a special edition of "Breaking the Deadlock" that brought together an extraordinary range of voices. Joining moderator Aaron Tang were former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, entrepreneur Mark Cuban, Utah Lieutenant Governor Deidre M. Henderson, former Senator Claire McCaskill, Congressman Dan Crenshaw, former Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper, Ph.D., constitutional law scholar Melissa Murray, independent journalist Aaron P., and activist Brittany Packnett Cunningham. America's founders often disagreed with one another. So did many of our panelists. Yet they shared something that often feels in short supply today: a willingness to sit together, listen, wrestle with difficult questions, and work through a series of hypothetical challenges. As we approach America's 250th birthday, that's a tradition worth celebrating. Coming July 7 to PBS stations across America / streaming.
