Today, we pause to honor Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas with a simple announcement: enslaved people were free. This came more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed, a delayed reckoning that speaks to how hard-won freedom truly was. Juneteenth marks that moment. It is the oldest celebration of the end of slavery in the United States, a day of resilience, culture, and hard-fought progress. But honoring Juneteenth means more than remembering history. There is still work ahead of us. Equity, justice, and belonging are not destinations we've arrived at — they are commitments that must be actively chosen, every day. Today we remember. Tomorrow we keep going. #Juneteenth
