Our #BESS project in Haapajärvi (Finland) is gathering momentum. With the installation of the 15 BESS shelters completed, the arrival of the main transformer marked the next major milestone for Alpiq’s currently largest BESS project under construction – 125 MW / 250 MWh. It is exciting to see the project progressing steadily and according to plan. ⚡90-tonne main transformer now on site – the largest transformer in Alpiq’s BESS projects so far and one of the largest of its kind in Finland  🚚 Complex transport from the port of Turku, requiring detailed planning, permits and dedicated logistics  🏗️ All 15 BESS shelters are completed and ready for the next phase Further milestones are already ahead: 🔌 Substation equipment arriving in July  🔋 Battery deliveries scheduled from September  📅 Official COD planned for the end of Q2 in 2027 Haapajärvi is a key element of Alpiq’s broader expansion in battery storage. With BESS already in operation in Finland and France, we are scaling our presence in flexible infrastructure in European markets and working towards our ambition of operating a multi-GW BESS portfolio by 2030. By adding storage capacity where the system needs flexibility most, battery projects like Haapajärvi help bring more renewable power into the grid while reinforcing stability and reliability. 🎬🎥 More information in the video with our colleague Camila Semprine 👇!
