Third-Year PhD Candidate | Civil Engineer | Researching the transformation of organic waste into biochar for use in sustainable concrete applications.
I’m pleased to share my first published research article in the Journal of Building Engineering: “Banana Peel Biochar as a Sand Replacement: Effects on Concrete Hydration Kinetics and Strength Development.” This study explores the potential of converting banana peel waste into a sustainable construction material. Our findings demonstrated a 24.7% increase in early-age compressive strength while maintaining comparable 28-day strength, highlighting a promising pathway toward more sustainable concrete production. I would also like to the Muscat Daily featuring our research and helping share its impact with a wider audience. My sincere gratitude goes to my supervision team (Professor Jie Li, Dr Rajeev Roychand, Dr Mohammad Saberian and Shannon Kilmartin-Lynch) and colleagues for their continuous guidance, support, and valuable insights throughout this research journey. This achievement would not have been possible without their encouragement and collaboration. 📄 Research article: https://lnkd.in/dBjdimeK 📰 Media coverage: https://lnkd.in/dazvaAsf #Research #SustainableConstruction #ConcreteTechnology #CircularEconomy #Biochar #BuildingEngineering #Sustainability #Innovation #Rmit
