As highlighted by several stakeholders, including MEP Kai Tegethoff, the Passenger Package represents a key step towards a more transparent, competitive and passenger-friendly #FairRailTicketing market. ❌ During the discussion, Nick Brooks underlined that dominant incumbent rail ticket vendors act as key gatekeepers for new entrants. ⚠️ After years of monopoly, many still benefit from structural advantages linked to their ownership, station presence and control over key sales channels, a situation that is not comparable to more open sectors such as aviation. ❗ New entrant operators have, in some cases, been denied access to dominant ticketing platforms without objective justification, even where they have adopted the technical standards required by the dominant undertakings themselves. ✍ The Rail Ticketing Regulation therefore represents an important response to an unsatisfactory status quo that has too often disadvantaged new entrant operators and limited choice and transparency for European passengers. 🚄 👨‍👩‍👧 We want a rail for all! #RailTicketing
