Allianz is making its first direct equity investment in Germany’s electricity transmission infrastructure. Allianz Global Investors has signed an agreement on behalf of Allianz and further institutional investors to acquire a stake in transmission system operator Amprion from Talanx, supporting the energy transition and strengthening the resilience of energy supply in Germany. Amprion is a leading transmission system operator in Europe with an extra-high-voltage grid, spanning around 11,000 km and supplying power to approximately 29 million people from the North Sea to the Alps. As part of this partnership, Allianz and Talanx plan to invest significant capital in the expansion and modernization of Germany’s second-largest electricity grid over the coming years.
