Last night, I had the honour of attending the book launch of #BlackInSchool authored by the brilliant Kemi Oluyinka and Caren Onanda — hosted in the House Of Commons by MP Bell Ribeiro-Addy. Today, I’ve so enjoyed seeing all the social media reflections — the photos, the words, the energy. I want to take this opportunity to amplify everything that’s been said. It was an unforgettable evening full of power, purpose, and pride. The excitement in the room was palpable. A heartfelt thank you to Kemi and Caren for your vision, courage, and commitment in bringing this much-needed book into the world. And to all the other contributors, phenomenal leaders in their own right, thank you for the depth, wisdom, and truth you’ve shared. I’m proud to have contributed to the chapter on Black Women in Education writing about “Holding On To Self”. I'm proud and honoured to stand alongside so many powerful voices. Last night I truly felt I was in the presence of giants. It was especially moving to see so many Black and Asian educators gathered in one space - bold, beautiful, brilliant, and determined to lead change. We have a choice: stay small and keep quiet, or disrupt the status quo and make good trouble. Last night, we smashed through concrete ceilings and we’re making good trouble. As usual, I forgot to take my own photos — but gratefully (and shamelessly) harvested from those generously shared with me. Thank you for capturing the joy, pride, and power of the evening.
