🫀🫁👩🏻‍⚕️SCTS 2026 has come to an end, and it’s been an incredible few days. It’s been a fantastic opportunity to learn from and speak with so many inspiring cardiothoracic surgeons. I’m really proud to have contributed to research presented at the conference. Our work included:
• Intraoperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography Guidance for Surgical Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion: A Systematic Review (oral presentation), completed in collaboration with the cardiac surgical team at Oxford University Hospitals. Presented exceptionally well by Karan Raj Nazareth, with Fadi Al-Zubaidi and the wider team.
• Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair for Severe Tricuspid Regurgitation: A Systematic Review (e-poster), with Karan Raj Nazareth. The wet labs were definitely a highlight. Getting hands-on experience with suturing and procedures such as aortic valve tissue replacement and aortic root surgery is something I’ll take forward with me. It was also a pleasure to attend a range of insightful talks, reconnect with familiar faces, and meet so many new people along the way. A big thank you to the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland committee for organising such a well-run and valuable conference, and for creating opportunities like this. Already looking forward to next year 🙏🏻 #SCTS #conference
