Managing Partner & Founder at Universe Ventures Space-tech | Government

According to PitchBook, there are 27,956 space-tech companies generating revenue in the World, but only 1,961 that are profitable. At Universe Ventures, my mission is twofold: uncover why space-tech isn’t always profitable — and rally the people who can change that, i.e. the engineers, founders, and operators. I’ve had a lot of conversations with CEOs who boast of how their company will make billions by 2032. I then ask them how they’ll make money in 2-3 years… and I’m met with silence. Whilst space-tech is inherently a very capital intensive sector, there will always be a dual-use strategy to start making money and profit. And ‘dual-use’ can mean two things. - Defence contracts: I’ve spoken to a rocket company that has raised $60 million but to make money they’re currently providing engineering services to Lockheed Martin. - Earth-based applications: Even the autonomous robots built for asteroid mining will first service cargo ships here on Earth. Space-tech becomes profitable when it solves problems on Earth first. 🌍 Dreaming got us into space-tech. Delivering real products, real value, and real revenue will keep us in business. P.S. I know it’s the holiday season but my laptop and DMs are always open! It’s not Christmas just yet folks! 😆
