I’m in the 7% club - I went to private school. But it nearly bankrupt my parents. After they divorced, they couldn’t afford it. It was in the years when house prices were mental (ah, the baby boomers!)… Thankfully, every few years, they could draw money down against their homes. That paid off credit cards. Loans. Overdrafts that accumulated month by month, term by term. Of my best friends, One was on a full scholarship and had type 1 diabetes. One had a highly dysfunctional home life. One, everything seemed okay on the surface, but if you scratched beneath, there were cracks. Why am I sharing this? I guess it’s to remind us, appearances can be deceiving. Privilege comes in many shapes and forms. It’s the stories underneath that make us interesting. 📸 Pic of me at GDST (The Girls' Day School Trust) networking event last week. And can you spot me in the school photo?!
