Almost everyone claims to be building with AI. Claiming it and knowing how to build it are two very different things. The problem is almost never the idea. It's finding someone who has actually shipped the thing before, someone who knows the terrain because they've already built on it. Someone who can look at your problem and tell you exactly what it takes to get it out the door. AI implementation is a very different skill from AI awareness. The model selection, the architecture decisions, the edge cases that only surface mid-build , one of that shows up in a pitch. It shows up in the work. The gap between awareness and implementation is exactly where most startups stall. The teams shipping right now have one thing in common. They closed that gap early.
