Check out the latest issue of FloraCulture International which includes a lot of articles that discuss some of the nuance and complexities of the global growing media sector. It includes an article where Siv Mari Aurdal and I discuss our latest paper on the (lack of a) definition of “sustainable growing media”. Growing media policy and science conversations need to move to a supply chain and horticultural systems level if any substantial progress it to be made. Most “peat vs. peat-free” discussions miss system level impacts and realties, and some even miss the growing media impacts (through lack of measurement and valid comparison). https://lnkd.in/eJgAvU4A
