Day 4 of recruiter diaries, this time, not about scammers, but real candidates and how they show up in interviews. Many candidates don’t research the company, its values, culture, or even what it actually does. If you’re looking for a new role, please do your research. Period! When you’re invited to an interview, it usually means your experience fits and your CV was clear. But if you’re still getting rejected after the conversation and wondering what went wrong, here’s one reason, you didn’t prepare. When I speak with a candidate and it becomes obvious they’re not aligned with what we do or believe in, I’ll tell them directly during the interview. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time, not mine, not theirs, not the hiring manager’s or the team’s. Maybe it’s my Eastern European approach, but I prefer honesty over politeness.. On using AI to “match” job descriptions. Lately, I keep seeing posts about using AI to rewrite your CV for every job description. Come on, no! AI can help, sure but please at least read what it suggests before you hit submit. Today, for example, i was going thorough the applications for the one role we have and I have an AI filter matcher that matches keywords and experience against a job description. It helps us scan faster, but it doesn’t reject anyone automatically. The result? A “perfect” 7/7 match for the role I’m hiring for. And yet… the candidate’s CV said they worked at 0x on Matcha Wallet specifically. I have no idea in which galaxy that happened, because we’re only just starting work on that project 😅 My takeaway from today, If you want to stand out as a real candidate research the company, read their mission, values, and recent updates. Know what they build and why. Use AI to polish your story, not create a fake one. Be ready to talk about how your work connects to what they do. Because at the end of the day, no AI or recruiter can fake genuine curiosity. Today’s interviews 3/4 were completed successfully (including both sourced candidates and those who reached out after my posts).
